All I Could Think Of

I just haven't had any blogging inspiration lately. I don't know what's wrong with me. Usually I have loads of things I could be posting about, but recently.......nothing........*staring into the emptiness of my mind*
While reading some favorite blogs of mine, I noticed that they all had one thing in common. They never capitalize. What's with that? What's the point? Charm? A rebellious nature to leave out the capitalized letter? Defying everything their teacher taught them in elementary school? That's something I've been dying to understand. (And just to be funny, I'll write the remainder of my post like such, although it bugs me to do it.)
Taking a photo

of course, many of my absolute favorite blogs don't use capitalization. for anything. such as cupcake dictionaryan undefined reality, pieces of a real heart, sweet serendipity and a few others. i still adore reading their posts. why is this? i always ask myself when seeing no capitalization. i really would like to know. it doesn't bother me that they don't capitalize, it just bothers me when i don't. it's almost like it's programmed into my brain where it feels wrong. hey, that's just me. but maybe there's something special about this style of blogging that i am just unaware of.

post script: i'm very sorry for the lame/boring post. i guess my mind is running low on inspiration.

Awkward Happenings [case 1 ]

A lot of awkward incidents happened this week. I'm pretty sure that when people hear the word 'awkward', they think of embarrassment or things out of the ordinary. That's what I think of when I hear "awkward happenings". This week, I probably had more odd things happen to me than I can count, but I am happy to share with you some of these awkward happenings.

I nearly tripped in the dark on my dog. (twice)
I got something in my eye during class, and I merely tried to blink it out.
I slipped on a wet floor at the community college.
I almost hit a dog while driving the car with my mom.
My lips felt like they were on fire after peeling an orange with my teeth.
I listened to the same song 5 times in a row.
I said to my brother in a demanding tone of voice "Hand over the sandwich.......now."
I burned my tongue on some delicious tea.
I tripped over my cat and almost fell to the floor.
After watching the morning news, I told my sister that a football player was cited for going 104 degrees on the highway. (hey, it was early in the morning)
I took a picture (a week earlier) of a plate of sausages.
I drew a mustache on a Jacob Black picture and randomly taped it into my journal.
I was running full speed towards a fence and stabbed my hand on a protruding nail.

~These Are a Few of My Favorite Things~

FYI:  The title is meant to be sung like the song from The Sound of Music. Or else it just doesn't sound right.

Everyone has favorite things. A favorite food, a favorite color, a favorite place, or even a favorite chair for Pete's sake! The list could go on and on.
I happen to love certain smells and particular moments, things that are memorable.  These are just a few of my favorite things.
Bath & Body Works Holiday Traditions Vanilla Bean Noel Triple Moisture Body Cream, 8 OZ, 2011 season

The lotion pictured above is one of my favorite things ever. I got this limited edition fragrance around Christmas time, and it smells beyond wonderful. When I put it on, I practically close my eyes and inhale the scent and cement it to memory.........

These shoes + my feet = love.
I adore them! They're fun, comfortable and they're RED.

Cranberry orange scone from Starbucks. Need I say more?

No matter how gray or cold it gets, the beach is somewhere I love to be.

I take this with me wherever I go. No, I mean it. EVERYWHERE.

The list of my favorite things could go on for another 4 posts if I wanted it to, but I'm not going to bore you to death with things concerning me and my favorite things today.  I wouldn't want to do that to you.

Happy Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day. It's a funny holiday isn't it? The day where it's okay to show your love for someone. (Like we really have to designate a certain day for that.)
My mom and I were in the car in front of Safeway yesterday, watching people (mostly guys) run this way and that with Valentine goodies; last minute purchases to express their love. I personally hate that people act like they have to buy someone's affection. I mean, receiving things from a loved one is sometimes nice, but that doesn't mean that they care that much more if they get you something. As we all know: It's the thought that counts.
I saw many guys with roses and flowers of all kinds, and oh how I wished some of those flowers were for me.
I don't have a Valentine this year. Besides the ones in my family. But I guess that's better than having no one at all.
This was Ryan's Valentine's holder for his class.

My Valentine's Day mainly consisted of baking and cleaning and eating some chocolate. I baked V-Day cupcakes.
Have one why don't you. Or ten.

I took these to my Driver's Ed class. I think they enjoyed them but, they're teenagers, they'll eat anything. (Okay, I know. I'm a teen too.) I was glad there were leftovers. I happily (and promptly) ate two cupcakes before dinner. What do ya think of that?
Anyway, I'd like to get to bed thank you very much. I'm exhausted. As we all know making cupcakes is very hard work. (^;

Post Script: Maybe next year I'll get those flowers.

I Want to Tell You...

I want to speak to you in a British accent and tell you I just moved here from England. I want to tell you that I own a pastry shop and I bake delicious goodies all day long. That I am a magnificent artist. I'm a well known author of several books. I was kidnapped by trolls.
I would love to tell you that I went on an adventure through the jungle and was nearly devoured by a clouded leopard. I discovered valuable treasure hidden beneath my house. I've read all the classic literature there is.  And all of the Jane Austen books. I've been to all of the states in the U.S. I've solved world hunger. I had lunch with Emma Watson. I would love to tell you that I have a library in my house. That I decorate wedding cakes. That I've been scuba diving. Or that I found a secret garden.
I want to tell you that I know who my Prince Charming is and that he's swept me off my feet. That I am really smart and I know absolutely everything. Or that I've been to 10 different countries and I've seen rare and exotic things. That I've ridden on the back of a whale.
I want to tell you that I've traveled the world and I've seen and learned so much. That I have a mountain of cupcakes on my table. I have an owl for a pet. I go to Hogwarts. I want to tell you that none of this is true.
I want to tell you, but I can't.

Some of Those Days

On some days, we all feel like this.
We think that everything about our life is horrible and find any little problem that we have and make it seem worse than it really is. Some of those days we just don't want to get out of bed, or we don't feel like doing anything at all. We think of the things we don't have instead of the things that we do have. Wishing we looked prettier, wishing we had better talents, wishing we were smarter, wishing we had more friends. It doesn't make you feel good to be wishing for something that you can't have immediately. You have to work at it.  Believe it or not, we choose how happy we're going to be throughout the day. Even if you think God is handing you the crappiest day at the bottom of the basket.
"People are just as happy as they make up their minds to be". ~ Abraham Lincoln

Who knows what makes us happy better than we do?
So if you're having one of those days, do something you enjoy and love. Ride your bike, go for a walk, lay in the grass and stare at the sky, dance in the rain, talk with your mom, or eat a piece of cake for all I care. Just don't make today one of those days.

Future Giveaway

In the near future, I will be having a 50 follower giveaway. I have no idea when that time will be, considering I don't have any control of the followers on my blog, but hopefully it will be soon. I don't know what the giveaway prizes will be yet so hold your horses and don't get overly excited.
I've never done this kind of thing before, so I'm going to have to do some research. - In other words, I have no clue how the giveaway thing works. But I'm sure that I will be able to figure it out before I attain 50 followers. Plus, there are other bloggers I'm certain will help me.
In the meantime, I'll be thinking of some great Valentine's treats to make.

Leap Year Love

I researched on the internet about leap years recently and I found the topic to be quite interesting. As I'm sure most of you know, a leap year is a year containing 366 days, instead of the normal 365. But did you know that there are special traditions that take place in certain parts of the world on this day? ( I didn't)
In many places in Europe, a woman may propose marriage on this day, without it seeming indecent or unladylike. If the man denies her proposal, it is customary that he compensates by a kiss, or with buying her fabric, gloves or a silk gown.
Greece, on the contrary, considers marriage on a leap day to be very unlucky. 1 in 5 engaged couples in Greece will avoid getting married on this day. (oh, dear!)

I think this is a really cute tradition. I don't know if many people still participate in it to this present day; I didn't research the subject that extensively. Maybe I will propose on a leap year someday. Who knows?

Leap Year Birthdays
A person born on February 29th is considered a "leapling" or a "leaper". On all of the non-leap years, they celebrate their birthdays on either February 28th or March 1st. Again, some regions think leap year birthdays are unlucky.
In a way, it does seem like leap year birthdays are hapless, just in the sense that they can't celebrate their birthdays on the exact day they were born every year. In another way, I see it as a very special day because a leap year only comes around every 4 years in the month of February.

Anyway, I have liked sharing my newly discovered knowledge with you, and I encourage you to research this topic yourself. There's a garage load more of information out there about leap years and the reasons we have them. If you'll excuse me, I need to go eat a peanut butter cookie right now.

~P.S When I get married, my husband better be wearing some awesome, stripy socks!~
