Oh sisters, I love you

~To my three sisters, whom I love to the moon and back~

 To Claire:
Oh, Claire. You are a bundle of joy. A bundle of playful, lovable, crazy (and sometimes loud) joy. Your smile is contagious. I love the way your eyes crinkle when you smile.
You never stop asking me to read books. I love that about you. At almost three years old, you have developed an immense interest and  love for books. I don't mind reading Fancy Nancy to you 5 times in a row. Or the Lorax. Go ahead. Ask me to read the whole library. You're a very smart child.
Watching you prance around in a Snow White dress often makes me giggle. It's funny to see how a costume can change the way you act. I know you like wearing it. You like the way it sounds. The sound of rustling fabric as you walk and twirl along.
I love your snoring when you sleep next to me. It's comforting. Although you may smack your arm across my face, I don't mind. Even if I seem mad at that moment, it's only because I'm exhausted. Hit me in the face all you want. Okay, scratch that last part.
Claire, your hugs make me happy. I wish I could just hold you in a tight, sisterly embrace all day long.
The way you say "baybee budder" instead of "baby brother" is so darn adorable. You'll grow out of saying that and you'll learn the correct way of saying it, which will make me sad.
Do you really think that Crayola markers are nail polish? I have to be honest with you; I really don't enjoy scrubbing purple and green from your toes and feet. Although, the look is stunning on you.
Your deep, blue eyes are sagacious. They're like a bottomless ocean. I love the look in your eyes when you get excited over something very small. And then I realize, it's not so very small at all.
I know you won't be a little girl forever. I know you'll grow up. Unless I could take you to Neverland, then you wouldn't have to.
For now, I'll take pleasure in watching you mature. Growing into the young woman you're meant to be.
I love you so, so very much, darling. Don't ever forget it.

I love you to the moon and back,
Your Loving Sister,
Kate

To Meghan:
Meg. I don't have much to say to you because I've known you for fifteen years and we've already talked about everything under the sun. But please, don't be disheartened. I still have plenty to say.
I love all our fits of laughter that we've had together. The late night talks. The trivial secrets told. The peach cobbler eaten after midnight, just the two of us. Looking back on all of our memories, they were pretty sweet.
In some ways, you're fearless. Don't let anyone tell you what to do. Don't feel pressured by your peers. They'll try to bring you down and crush all your hopes and dreams. If you stick to your plans and goals that you've set for yourself, stick with them to the end; I promise that you will succeed.
I admire your love for track. I know that I could never be a runner. You're an elegant gazelle that sprints past everyone else, leaving them with a furrowed brow and some airless lungs. No one knows how you do it. I say it's your passion. Others say you're "just good".
Meghan, you have many talents. You're artistic. You can whip the house into shape unlike any other. You make people laugh. And you have many more gifts that you are still unaware of.
I love you, Meghan. Despite our anger towards each other once in a while. I know how it feels to be overwhelmed by the pressures of high school. And the many burdens that come along with it. Maybe that's why I left and never went back.
Keep yourself in the light. Walk down the straight and narrow path to your dreams. You will become something marvelous! Trust me!
I love you.

I love you to the moon and back,
Your Loving Sister,
Kate

To Mia:
Mia. You are a ray of sunshine. Your golden/hazel eyes brighten up any day. Your laughter is infectious. You never fail to make me laugh or smile. You have an elephantine sense of humor for a girl of merely 5 years old. You always find something funny in everything.
I like it when you and Claire play princesses together, and you pretend you're the fairest in all the land. Your long yellow dress that trails behind you makes you feel fancy and beautiful. Trust me, I know. And you flit about the house in your Belle dress, and dance with your arms over your head imitating ballet moves. You pretend that there's a prince charming dancing with you, and that you and him get married. I find that hilarious!
You have a vast imagination. Anything you say is true in your mind. You get a wild, mischievous look in your eyes when your imagination wheels are turning. And I play along, adding to all the magic you have created. Remember that purple dragon in the backyard? And I protected you under my invisibility cloak so it couldn't see us? That was amazing. Aren't you surprised we even survived?
You are so helpful. I can't even describe how great of a quality that is. It will prove to be useful in your life. I enjoy your eagerness to help me with the latest recipe I concoct in the kitchen. You love cookies with chocolate in them best.
I must admit, you can be annoying sometimes. But then again, so can I.  I apologize. And I also apologize for all the times that I have yelled at you. I know I can't take it back, but I can make up for it.
Miabella. You're such a beautiful girl. Your fiery auburn hair that shines in the sun. The little freckles that dance atop your nose when you laugh. The sun loves your nose. And I love your freckles.
For some reason, it pesters me when you try to act like me. Because I want you to simply be yourself. But I guess that's completely stupid of me considering your age. I really should see you emulating me as an honor. I should be grateful you want to be like me. I should be proud even.
Don't be bashful when you sing in front of me. I quite like it. You have a gorgeous voice.
I will savor these moments with you. The moments that are making you who you are. These only moments I'll have with you when you're a little girl. When you believe in fairies and dragons. When you dance with your invisible prince. When you want me to hug and kiss you goodnight, and rub your back.
I'll treasure this time that I have to spend with you and Claire. Now is the only time I've got. Now with you.
I love you, Mia. Never think for one instant that I don't.

I love you to the moon and back,
Your Loving Sister,
Kate
