Cubed Apple German Cake

This morning I woke up early (6:30 to be exact) and I began to put together a little surprise for my siblings. I had the thought last night. The thought that I should do something special. Something out of the norm.
I got the idea when I was tidying up my room and I found a folded up piece of paper on the ground. This folded up piece of paper turned out to be a recipe that a German girl named Yulia gave to me a few months ago at a church Young Women's activity. Yulia's recipe was called " German Apple "French Fries" Cake". So obviously I changed it up a bit. (And no, it does not involve french fries.) I put in a cup of whole wheat to healthy it up and I added a half a teaspoon of cinnamon because her recipe didn't call for any. (I like cinnamon, okay.) I also didn't cut the apples like french fries, which is what the directions told me to do. So, I switched a few other things around until I realized, the recipe was no longer precisely like Yulia's. I thought I should give it a different name, because I cubed the apples.
And.......I came up with Cubed Apple German Cake! I like the sound of it. (No offense, Yulia.)

My initial desire was to fill the entire house with the aroma of apples and cinnamon. That way, when everyone wakes up, they will be greeted by a mouthwatering smell and an urge to run to the kitchen. But, like with most of my plans, it didn't work out. Some of my siblings were already awake. They were still surprised though. Which makes me happy.
There's something about food that brings people together. That makes a home feel like......home. It makes everyone content and creates a pleasant atmosphere.
I love being in the kitchen. It's where my mom always is. It's where I hope to often be when I am a mother. Memories are made in the kitchen. And memories are what life is about. Make as many as you can.
~Memories should be cherished and remembered frequently, and held dearly to our hearts. <3

P.S  I apologize for posting three apple cake pictures. I just couldn't pick a favorite.
