Blog Entry: Old Testament - Love the Lord

As children of God, we should love the Lord with all our might, mind, and strength. (Moroni 10:32). It is only fair that we serve Him and show our gratitude to Him.

Serving the Lord, obeying His commandments, reading our scriptures, praying to Him sincerely, and serving our fellow men, are all ways that we can show Heavenly father that we love Him.

Being obedient is one of the greatest ways we can do this. Obedience to the Lord also helps the spirit to abide in our lives.

Deuteronomy 11:1 "Therefore, thou shalt love the Lord thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, always."

Obeying commandments isn't the only way we can show the Lord that we love Him. Finding and experiencing joy is another way we can please our Heavenly Father. He created us to have joy! He doesn't want us to think that if we're obeying Him, that we have to live sad, boring lives. That is just not true.

2 Nephi 2:25 "Adam fell that men might be; and men are that they might have joy."

We must find what brings us joy in our everyday lives. We will be more likely to increase our happiness if we find joy in the little things. Learn to recognize things that make you happy and continually seek things that bring you joy and bring you closer to Heavenly Father and Christ. You will be greatly blessed as you seek after virtuous and lovely things.

Article of Faith 13
We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.
